Capeside: Customized Villa
10x10 (9x9 usable area) 2 story plot (3 with a walkable roof)

Capeside is located on the cape east of the Lycaeum on Moonglow Island on the Sonoma Shard (58o 26'n, 145o 12'w). It has had many different themes over the years as a villa, but when I looked at customizing it I chose to try and fit in with the atmosphere of both Moonglow and its location by the sea. Cascading waterfalls from the roof to the ground help to highlight it's connection to the surrounding waters. The first floor is a casual living area with a fish tank as the focal point. I used the colors within the wall tiles to color the furniture but still kept it somewhat weathered. Shells and nets help to emphasize the sea connection as well as the other decorations. There is a lot of room to work with in this design, but I chose to try and keep some of the space empty which proved to make the smaller 9x9 space look a bit larger.
The second floor of course is the bedroom. I design most of my homes to actually be lived in. Again I used the colors of the wall tiles to highlight the room and chose to place a fireplace as the focal point. The pillows gives it a casual atmosphere. The porch is located to take advantage of the ocean view. I made it more homey by taking up a lot of the space with large pieces of furniture and deco. When customizing this floor I took the time to decide exactly where I wanted the fireplace to be and place appropriate tiles for it. (it is a good idea to have a design and theme in mind as you customize so you can use the tiles for specific areas. In the living area the fishtank is on black slate tiles and on the roof the hot tub is on blue floor tiles.)
The roof and entire house has nice straight lines that offset the curves of the cascading waterfall. A perfect vacation type house, I found it only appropriate to put the cooking/eating area on the open roof as well as a hot tub and a sitting area that takes advantage of the view offered on the cape. The entire design is simple yet elegant.
Remember when designing your home that floor tiles need to accent the wall tiles. So when using very decorative wall tiles keep the floors simple and plain use your decorations to bring out the wall designs not your floors.
