Mayor Kelmo to appear at Pub this evening!
2:01 PM - 12 Aug, 2004 by Michael "
Silverfoot" Kane

Current events in Iantown have promted Mayor Kelmo to start his campaign of town meetings to reach out to all residents of Iantown
The following was posted by Kelmo (Mayor and all around nice guy), on the Ianstorm Alliance General Discussion:

:
I truely wish I could make an "I love you speech" and make every thing alright. I wish my words had that sort of magic. All I can really say is I do understand where you folks are coming from.

When we started this over a year ago as a few fellows in New, I had no idea where we would end up. When I took the job as GM there where maybe 10 or so at most. Yes it started as a group of friends that grew pretty close.

Well friends wanted to share what we had and brought others. We have made new friends and some still wanted to share our special community, thus we grew more. Things change over time, better or worse, that is for you to decide. People see us and some few want to share in what we have.

Trust me I am very selective in who I even discuss the posibility of joining our guild. I have tried to take my self out of the loop as much as posible in recruiting. But grow we must or die out we will. I firmly believe this. If we do not have a presence in town, by this I mean people about not just a bunch of houses, then disinterest will creep in and folks will just fade away.

This is how I see it. I will continue to promote this policy as long as I am the mayor and gm. If the majority feel diferently, well there is a system in place to change this.

I will add more later when I get home. I will be at the tavern tonight if any wish to visit with me.

I will be available to any and all Iantowners to visit with tonight, 8 pm central or so I hope. If you have any questions, comments or death threats, drop on by! I hope to visit with any folk, new old or even hopeful members.

Ladies, Lords, Sheep, Scalliwags, Wenches, Pirates, Rogues and Upstanding citizens, come one come all! The merrimaking is about to begin!

Bring your bonded (or unbonded) beetle and test it's strength in a free for all, last beetle standing competition. This will be followed promptly by a Golem fight! We will have tinkers on hand creating golems for teh event, in again, a free for all, last golem standing event. Meanwhile, some of the ladies of Iantown will be manning a kissing booth, the proceeds from the kissing booth will be halved and granted to winners of both competitions, in addition to the 100k prize for first place in each category.

Thursday, August 5th at 8pm Central: Iantown Summer Fashion Extravaganza and Show Our winterfest fashion show was so much fun, we decided to have another! This is open to all genders, and the contestants will compete in the following categories for prizes:

Evening Wear - Contestents will put on their finest, classiest outfits. Weather going to the ball or spending the evening with a special someone, these are the outfits one puts on to dazzle.

Casual Wear - Relaxed and comfortable, perfect for a day of shopping, sewing leather, gardening, or for any informal get together, this is where contestants can show their ability to look chic while dressing down.

Sexy Duds- Set free your inner vixen or the stud within. Conestents will dress in their most appealing and naughty attire to win this round.

Hunting wear - Dress for the fight of your life! Whether you're battling your enemy, beating down orc lords, or braving the depths of dungeon Despise, these are the outfits that instill fear, withstand a beating, but shine with class on the battlefield!

Friday, August 6, 8pm Central: Bachelor and Bachelorette Auction. We had such a good time with the bachelor auction last time, but due to popular demand, we are now putting bachelorettes up on the block as well! All proceeds will again be donated to NEW. Anyone who wishes to put themselves up for auction is requested to bring a book describing them and the date they are offering. The participant has the option to read their book themselves or the emcee can read it for them.

Saturday, August 7, 4pm Central: Scavenger Hunt followed by Iantowns Summer Banquet The final event will be a scavenger hunt, fun for the whole family! After the hunt, everyone is invited to wrap up the celebrations with a banquet filled with food, ale and good times for all!

We look forward to seeing you all! We really want to say thanks to everyone on Siege that has helped and supported our town and opened up the community to us!

Each event will start with Kelmo's Tavern in the heart of Iantown as the meeting point. From in the tavern, we will be gating people to the locations of each event. If anyone has any questions regarding the events, I can be reached via icq at 120579196. Thanks.

CWS v. I^A: Guild Games

CWS v. I^A: Guild Games

The Citizens of Wispwood Shire and the Iantown Alliance folks gathered for a week of games and fun.

I spoke with Achilles a bit about the games.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sloan: Can you tell me what games were played?
Achilles: The first game was a Knife Throwing game in the Shire tavern.
CWS won that one thanks to a bulls eye from Gareth *grins*.
Achilles: The second game was the Russian roulette
which I believe you said you saw. I^A won.
Sloan: hehehe Yeah I saw that one.
Achilles: The final game was a summoned pet battle.
A stone wall was cast and once it fell we all cast the 'summon creature' spell,
sent them off to kill the other sides pets.
Achilles: I^A won that one and the series *frowns*.
Achilles: My pig never stood a chance against their grizzly bears.
Sloan: And the loser of the series had to bar tend for other guild?
Achilles: Yes, the losers had to bar tend for one night
and plan a bag ball game.
Many Thanks to the Lady Sloan for her report!
"Welcome to Iantown"
"Welcome to Iantown"
by Bolt Gearhart (town drunk-I^A)
When I first came to Iantown, in search of some fine goods,
I took a while to look around, and study the fine woods.
After visiting the buildings, I had now made up my mind,
That this 'ere town was, truly a fantastic find!
I asked if I could rent a room, and perhaps be also fed.
The townsfolk turned to look at me, and this is what they said:
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown!
This place just can't be beat.
Be wary as ye wander through,
Else be jumped out on the street!
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown,
We hope you stay a while,
And if you would, please oh please,
Ignore that large corpse pile.
The mayor's tavern is a pleasure, a welcome place to drink some ale.
All the other taverns 'round, they do compare quite pale.
Kelmo'll serve ye up a drink, quite nearly auto-matic,
But little do the townsfolk know, he slaves pixies up'n the attic!
Their town hall is a marvel, selling many odds and ends,
Far better than any "mall" up 'round the Crystal Fens.
The town council gathers here, to discuss rights and wrongs,
But if that is truly the case, then what's with all the bongs?
I went to praise them all of the wonders I had spied,
The townsfolk turned to look at me, and this is how they replied:
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown!
This place just can't be beat.
Be wary as ye wander through,
Else be jumped out on the street!
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown,
We're sure glad that you've came.
You say you can't stay for long?
Well, that's a bloody shame.
Their town park is so lovely, a welcoming retreat,
I went there to relax, and kick up my lazy feet.
But then a plant spoke to me! It claimed it was my daughter,
So, a bit of advice to ye around, don't drink the water!
I explored some more, here and there, till I came upon a buildin'
with a sign that read "Spiritual Center"... I wondered what was within.
I cracked open the door a peep, to get a better look,
An' inside was some wicked woman, beating a slave with a crook!
I decided then, with the whole world I'd just have to share,
The townsfolk all turned to me, and this they did declare:
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown!
This place just can't be beat.
Be wary as ye wander through,
Else be jumped out on the street!
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown,
Please do enjoy your stay.
But be aware of the brigands,
Their raids come everyday.
I followed one to an eerie shrine, a place like no other,
It reeked of magic and of fear - I nearly cried for me mother!
I saw a dozen all gather inside, like some evil secret cult,
I could only guess what went on within, was very much... adult.
T'was getting late, and I was faded, I searched for a place to rest,
I asked the folks about the town, and they showed me to "the best."
I approached the stately manor - they had called it "Rag's Inn".
Walked through the door, and what did I see? The rats were playing gin!
Several folks approached me then, each with smirk 'n great stride,
They all crept in close, and in me they did confide:
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown!
This place just can't be beat.
Be wary as ye wander through,
Else be jumped out on the street!
Welcome to ye ol' Iantown,
We trust your stay was pleasant,
But you've seen too much, so get out of here,
You mischievous little peasant!!
From the ashes arose Iantown........
12:44 AM - 02 May, 2004 by Michael "
Silverfoot" Kane
As told by Malkies Talren
In a time far past, a gem was shattered. This gem gave birth to the universe of identical lands known as shards. Each of these shards were a representation of a land called Sosaria, though each had its own population that was unlike the citizenry of each other shard. The people of these lands each dictated the path of life and events of each of the respective lands in which these people lived.
Many years after the shattering of that gem, a hope and wish was born in a number of individuals that resided in many of these lands. That wish was to created something that was wholey worth toiling, and even dieing for. That wish was to be able to build from the empty soil, a place that could be called a home to each of them, and yet not just a home of the individual, but a home that others could then take up residence in, and be considered a refuge and a place worth sacrificing for.
The powers that determine the fates of the universe must have heard the lamentation of these individuals, for the power was granted to them to converse with those not of their own homeland. The powers given to them made it possible for these people to talk about their hopes, and devise a plan to make the dreams they shared, a reality. Under normal circumstances, these dreams could never be fufilled by these people that lived in different lands strewn about the universe, but the beings that bestowed the power to these people gave them a choice. The choice they were given was this:
To continue on with their lives as they were, and never know the pleasure of seeing the seeds they wished to sow be grown.
Or,
To give up all that they knew, to be taken to another land where the ideas could be planted and grow dependent on how the growers attended them.
With heavy hearts, the dreamers chose to leave all that they had behind, and begin building anew. With the choice made, they were wisked away to another of the shards, a land with a different set of rules laid down upon the world. This land, which could be deemed more dangerous than many of the other lands called Sosaria, was known by the existing populous as, "Siege Perilous." The Fates had chosen this location wisely, for in their wisdom, they knew that if the travelers were true in their designs, that they would flourish. If they were not made of stuff strong enough to weather the perils of this land, all that they made would crumble, a very true test of their devotion to themselves and their new bretheren.
They proved sturdy in that which they hoped to achieve, and the province of Iantown was born in the facet of Sosaria known as Malas.
The wills of those founders proved strong enough to call to those with like minds on other shards, and when the pull of this dream became strong in their minds, they too were allowed to traverse to the land of Siege Perilous, to continue to build upon the groundwork of Iantown.
Although those that made the trip started without the tools and knowledge they had possessed in their prior realities, they started to take upon themselves tasks and training to allow them to provide for the town and themselves.
Many of these took up the path of martial combat, to defend against those that wished to do the town ill. Many took up knowledge of the arcane arts, to defend, and to allow travel across the lands faster than horseback. Many began training in the ways of necromantic spells, to enhance themselves, and to summon creatures of the dead to aid themselves and their town. Some picked up tools of crafting, with which to outfit their town with clothing and armaments. Still others learned the ways of the tamer, so as to have beastial companions.
With the diversity of talents among the citizenry, there was little the township could not accomplish. Thusly, the dream continued to flourish, and all was well.
Then came a time when those of the land that lived a lifestyle of unsavory acts began to call upon the town for combat and warfare. Though Iantowns people have died at times to these invaders, through the use of resurrecting skills, they came back better versed in the ways of combat, to keep their family safe. Many of these raiders have learned the ferocity of people willing to sacrifice and die for their homes and newfound family, and respect for this new town grew in the eyes of the people inhabiting Siege.
There are also those that believe in the concept of Iantown, and have offered their hands in aid and friendship to the town, and respect grew. With that respect came the knowledge that this town allows any that come in peace, into their homes and taverns, whether living the path of the murderer or the path of nobility, all are welcome.
To this day there are still people from the multitude of shards that hear the call, and are taken to the land of Iantown, to begin their lives anew, and the town thrives.
BWS Moves into Iantown - Siege Perilous -4/24/2004 10:52:25 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello all.
I know that I haven't been around much as of late. But it looks like I may be around a bit more this summer.
My friends from the Brotherhood of Wayward Saints have convinced me to open the guild here on Siege. So, we have moved into town. We would like to consider ourselves citizens of Iantown and hope that you will welcome us.
I would certainly appreciate those going red not attacking my guildmates though
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iantown would like to welcome BWS as citizens and there representative to the Town council.
Silverfoot" Kane
In July of 2003 a bunch of boardies from Ianstorm got together and formed a player town on the Siege shard. The idea of the town was no color discrimanation, a place to run events from and to keep the town as fight free as possible. Not an easy task on a shard like Siege.
Nine months later we come a long way. The town itself has expanded to include some folks that are not guild members. Which is exactly what we want a town where all can come and feel comfortable. Some exciting events have taken place here and some very notable dignitaries have visited.
There is always some hard decisions that need to be made to cover situations that arise. I want to congradulate the folks of Iantown in not letting this type of process destroy thier friendship. It's always easy to say "It's my way or the highway", tis much more difficult to stay the course and shovel against the tide. This shows the respect they have for each other.
What they don't want are guilds placing buildings in town strictly to grief the populace. And while this was always a fear, recently it became a reality. Know this, the folks of Iantown will not "entertain" the griefers any longer. They should go about thier business and hope the newly placed homes are indeed here to become part of Iantown.
I^A declared KOS
2:15 PM - 12 Mar, 2004 by Michael "
Silverfoot" Kane
A/B has declared the Ianstorm Alliance guild KOS. All citizens of Iantown should be prepared to defend themselves in case of attacks in town.
Although raids are nothing new to us, this will be the first time the guild A/B has taken this stance.
Safe Travels to all.
Arturo's Night of The Hunt.
10:35 AM - 11 Mar, 2004 by Michael "
Silverfoot" Kane
Story told by Arturo--------------------------
Wednesday was the first Iantown Night of the Hunt. We started at the Pub where the teams were set up. Team Bridgett was herself, Spree, Ru, and Xoch. Team Asmo was himself, Siofra, Se’an, and Severina. The team that collected the most gold from their spawn spot in an hour won. The prize was that the losing team had to be at the mercy of the winning team’s demands for an entire evening.
There were two twists to the rules announced right before the contest. The first was that players could only take 5000 gold max to the drop off spot at a time.
The second twist was one spawn location, a dungeon. The teams had a choice between Fire or Ice dungeons. Everyone would be in the same dungeon and the drop off spot was to be the entrance. The gang chose Fire and off we went.
It was rough going early on for Team Bridgett as Spree got separated and Xoch went too far and got killed. He also lost all his loot but like the trooper he was, X got back and got to gold farming. In addition, Ru couldn’t make it so the team was short one.
These setbacks could not be overcome as Team Asmo kept producing gold at a steady rate. There was a comeback as Team Bridgett pulled closer halfway through. But it wasn’t meant to be, even with the seemingly endless deaths of Se’an during the contest.
With Team Asmo’s gold adjusted for the extra player they had 27,365 (36487 real amount) and Team Bridgett ended with 19528.
The total collected was 56,015 for the stat scroll fund. And Mayor Kelmo later matched that amount with another check for 50,000 gold. A big thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the cause.
Night of the Hunt II will be held Monday March 29. Details coming soon.
