Razer is a small company based out of San Diego, CA. But for a small company, they have been doing some very big things. Razer makes gaming input devices. Specifically, they are known for their gaming mice. Razer has been on the forefront of producing high performance but low cost input devices since 1999. This year they have some new devices up their sleeve. While I'm not able to comment on everything I saw, I'll give you the lowdown on the few devices I can speak about.

The Razer Diamonback "Plasma" is a 1600 DPI infra-red optical mouse. This is the world's first infra-red sensor mouse with an optical engine. If you have an optical mouse, flip it over and you'll see that there is a red light on the bottom. This red light is the LED which the mouse uses to light the surface it's travelling over and then allows the sensor to pick up on the movement. The Infra-red sensor mouse doesn't have a visible LED, instead, it sends out an infra-red beam which the camera then picks up. This offers a slight increase in performance but also an increase in asthetic appeal (you don't have the red light constantly shining underneath, instead, you have a blue glow eminating from the mouse.)

Also Razer showed me a keyboard they are working on. I can't talk much about it, but I can tell you that it's programmable, and looks like it'll be quite a powerful input device.

I was also told that Razer is working on another mouse which will be released at the end of the summer. But they didn't want to release any more information on the device due to "corporate spies".

Razer is sponsoring gamers all over the world in competitions. They had an event at their booth where gamers could play against their sponsored team "Girlz 0f destructi0n" which is an all female gaming team. With the support of the professional gamers, Razer has poised themselves to be a dominant force in the gaming input field.
